You can win the bet many times, e.g. you choose one horse in each of the legs 1 to 4 and two horses in each of legs 5, 6 and 7. If all choices finish in the first 3, payout is won eight times (1x1x1x1x2x2x2 =8).

Please note:

Triefecta & quartet

There are four different ways to bet on the Trifecta & Quartet namely single, multi, float (rove) & box. Single is described as per above. Multi means choosing one horse for 1st with 3 or more for 2nd and 3rd. Float means selecting a horse to finish in any position and box, means taking any possible combination of the chosen horses but, 3 must finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Rule changes

Be aware that Pick 6, Jackpot and Place Accumulator rules often change and vary according to bet types so always familiarise yourself with the following:
  • couplings occur when a trainer has more than one horse running in the same race, so familiarise yourself with this practise
  • when a horse is scratched, it may be substituted with the favourite, so refer to the rules
  • to calculate the cost of the Pick 6, Jackpot and Place Accumulator, multiply out the total number of selections made for each leg

Fractional betting

Fractional betting can be used to reduce the cost of a Trifecta, Quartet, Pick 6, Jackpot or Place Accumulator Bet. You can reduce your investment by taking a fraction or percentage of the bet but then you only stand to win a fraction or percentage of the payout. For example, a R1000 place accumulator could be taken at 10% so you can only spend R100 but, you will win 10% of the payout.

Ante post betting

Ante post betting means placing a bet on a horse in a race prior to the final field for that race being announced, i.e. the declaration of runners. Ante post bets placed on a runner scratched or withdrawn from the race will be losing bets. Once the official field of runners is announced, the ‘run and deduction’ rule applies. This means if a horse is withdrawn from the race you will get a refund and bets on the remaining runners will be subject to possible deductions.

Total match goals

Total accumulated goals scored in a soccer match (90 minutes).

Handicap betting

This form of betting on rugby and soccer aims to level the weaker side by giving them a certain number of points or goals before a game. For example, in a rugby match, team A is much stronger than team B and is therefore set at very restricted odds to win the game. To create interest in betting on the match, team B would be given extra points prior to kick-off e.g. team B gets a 12 point start and team A therefore gets a negative 12 point start. Betting on the game would show team A at (-12 ½) and team B at (+12 ½). Team A needs to win by 13 points for a bet to win and team B can lose by 12 points for the bet to be a winning bet (80 minutes). Odds on both teams will be the same. The half point eliminates the possibility of a tie on a handicap. For a soccer handicap bet, the weaker the team is given a start in a match by being allocated 1, 2 or 3 goals e.g. team A (-1) goal and team B (+1) goal. Team A has to win by two goals or team B has to draw or win by a goal or more (90 minutes). One goal scored by team A would result in a draw on this particular handicap bet.

Half time/full time

You can bet on the half time and full time result of a rugby or soccer match i.e. the winner at half time and the winner at the final whistle (80 or 90 minutes respectively).

1st scoring play

Applies to rugby. Either a try, penalty, drop goal or penalty try option for each team.

1st try/goal scorer

The first rugby or soccer player to score the first try or goal in 80 or 90 minutes respectively.

Score predictions

You can bet on what you predict the final score will be in a soccer match (90 minutes).
